As a full-time professional outside finance, I cannot realistically research individual stocks. Trackers give me access to relatively wel-run companies without the cost of active mamagement. Fidelity is reasonably easy to use and they compete on service and price. they have changed manager recently but I can;t tell teh difference - uied to be a chap called Ricardo Curco or similar.
By dripfeeding what I can afford into this equity ISA I have benefitted from the recent drop and rise in FTSE all-share.
What concerns me is that my universe is Fidelity and if they get into trouble, all of my equity might get in to trouble. I think in a few years I might diversify into another tracker for that reason.
